History of Funwalk

In the past, the Black River Parent Organization hosted a myriad of fundraisers – everything from magazine sales to car washes. This led to fundraiser fatigue by the students, parents, and staff.

In an effort to meet key school needs and reduce the overwhelm, a dedicated, core group of parents designed Fun Walk Friday.

Raise Money

Rather than selling, selling, selling, and only receiving a portion of the money, Fun Walk Friday was designed to maximize the support of our community. With the support of our generous sponsors, 100% of student-raised funds go directly toward supporting the school.

Event activities

From the walk itself to the live music, dunk tank, face paint, yard games, and pizza, this year’s Fun Walk will be FUN.

Show up and be sure to get in  your class photo! The highest CAP class attendance will win a class pizza party!

earn prizes

Prizes are awarded based on the level of money raised by each student and each homeroom or CAP class. Not able to reach your personal goal? That’s OK! Little bits from lots of people will make a huge difference toward school goals.

Activities for everyone

Student groups will lead different activities, so be sure to get your face painted, get competitive with a game of tug-o-war, and throw a ball for the dunk tank!

What does the money go to?

We know. People are more likely to donate when they know where the money is going. Check out the critical social-emotional activities that the money funds below!
